While passing through Charlevoix, Michigan, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check out the Charlevoix Lighthouse as I have never seen it in person before. I was treated to a very moody lighthouse due to massive fog that was in the area. It was so foggy that I couldn't even see my car parked near the beach. Not only was the fog very cool but some of the ice formation were pretty cool as well. Over the winter the waves created a wall of ice near the railing and with warmer temperatures it caused the ice wall to be hollowed out. If you look closely you can see the stalactites and stalagmites.
I found these fascinating stalactite and stalagmite ice formations around the Charlevoix Lighthouse in Charlevoix, Michigan. I loved the color of the ice and how it looked like an awesome ice version of the Mammoth Caves.
I had been waiting for a good cling to the tree snow fall for a long time. I finally got it! I loved driving around looking for scenes like this. I spent nearly 3 hours driving around and hiking the local parks. I would have spent longer but it started to snow too much.
