Gabbro Falls is a really easy waterfall to visit. Although it is not for the faint of heart because there are no railings and a rather large drop into a gorge, it is a very pretty double waterfall. This 40 foot waterfall is on the Black River and found in Bessemer Township, Michigan.
While hiking in what is believed to oldest white pines in the Upper Peninsula, you come across an interesting dead tree. This tree sits like a tripod and is 100% hollowed out all the way to the top. Sometimes trees are hallowed out by fires or lightening but in this case I would say it was due to termites. If you look closely you can see the hole at the top. If you look even closer that hole looks like the lowers peninsula. These trees are found in Copper Harbor at Estivant Pines.
While staying in Copper Harbor (Michigan), my kids loved going down to the docks each day to see the Isle Royal ferry come into the Harbor. One day it was very foggy and the boat was past due to come in. We figured the boat would be late due to the fog but weren't sure how late. We waited and waited, you could tell others were starting to get worried the boat wasn't there yet. After almost an hour we heard the boat come into the harbor but it wasn't until it was nearly docked that we were able to see it. I am glad everyone made it back safely.
