Waugoshance Lighthouse is considered "one of the most endangered lighthouses in the world." The lighthouse is 63 feet tall and was first lit in 1851. It was later deactivated in 1912 and then used for bombing practice by the US Navy during World War II. Today the lighthouse is just a shell of what once protected ships from a very dangerous part of the Straits of Mackinac.
