This was one of the best sunset afterglows I have seen and what better place to experience it than at the frozen St. Joseph Lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan. It didn't matter which way you looked, the colors were everywhere.
This was one of the most magical sunsets I have ever seen (to date). The cloud cover was so heavy, I couldn’t even see the sun, I was really questioning why I was still there. The only reason I stuck it out was because there was a thin band on the horizon where the clouds weren’t. As luck would have it, the sky transformed into an amazing sunset; pinks, purples, and yellows. I was literally jumping up and down at the sight of it. I am pretty sure if anyone saw me, they’d think I was nuts. Nope, just a really happy photographer!
This was the first time I visited Muskegon Lighthouse, I parked in the parking lot knowing I was in the right place but still couldn't see the lighthouse. It was only until I got about 10 feet away from it I could actually see it for the first time. Seeing the lighthouse for the first time this way, reminds me how sailors felt seeing it many years ago; knowing they were finally in a safe harbor.
