If you are a Michigander chances are you have seen a picture of this lighthouse before. It can be found on some of the Michigan License plates. White Shoal Lighthouse is the only barber pole (red/white) lighthouse in the US and can be found in Lake Michigan. The warm glow of the sunset casted its beauty onto this unique and historic lighthouse.
If you are looking for a beautiful but challenging mountain biking destination, add Grand Island to your list. It may only be a 1/2 mile north of the main land (Munising) but you feel like your hours away from anyone else. With less than 10,000 visitors each year you truly get the 22.5 square mile Island to yourself. I liked this view because you could see the cliffs and the different layers of trees hanging on the edge of the cliffs.
If you are looking for an easy (non-paved) hike while visiting Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Miners Falls is a great option. I visited the falls on a rainy/misty day and it was wonderful. The trail was lined with hundreds of wild flowers making for an added bonus on an already great trail.
