Sometimes large waves bring some usual things to the shore. While visiting the Point Bestie Lighthouse during a gale warning I noticed the waves were bringing in some usual colored sand to the shore. Although I love doing landscape photography, I couldn’t turn down this abstract/semi-macro photograph.

Sometimes you just get lucky! My plans were to drive to and stay the night at the Union Bay Campground near the Porcupine Mountain State Park. While on my way up, the State Park called me and told me that the campground was closed due to flooding but told me I could move my reservation over to the Presque Isle Campground. Only about 45 minutes away but in doing so it killed my sunset plans at Union Bay. I scrambled together a new plan to photograph the sunset the mouth of the Presque Isle River near the NEW campground. The wind was pretty intense sending waves from Lake Superior up into the mouth of the river allowing the waves to crash at this location. The fall colors and the sunset burn was simple amazing. I later learned that the cloud cover was too heavy at my original campground, further adding to my saying, "everything happens for a reason."
