This photograph is just one example of how the beauty of Iceland can be found all over the place. The ring road in Iceland is a long scenic drive around the outer edge of the county. During this drive you can see lakes, mountains, glaciers, quaint towns and 100's of waterfalls. Fossálar is one of those waterfalls that you can see and you do not even have to get out of the car!
I find it amazing that these magnificent little icebergs were once part of these massive glaciers found high in the mountains in Iceland. I loved walking the black sand beach searching for the best one. There were so many to choose from it reminded me of someone searching for the best pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. To get this effect you run out to the wave as it comes in, slam your tripod down (if your timing/wave judgment is poor you actually have to take the hit of the freezing cold wave) and then snap the camera as the waves retreat. It was so much fun to do and I have a ton of pictures of the sky, me and everything else in-between but Luckily I never fell and never tripped over the landmines of icebergs and actually snagged a few shots.
