Out of Nowhere

After a longer walk than originally thought along the beach (from Ludington State Park) we were rewarded seemingly out of nowhere with the view of the Big Sable Point Lighthouse.

Canyon Falls

This beautiful and unique waterfall falls into the what some call the "Grand Canyon of Michigan." While much smaller than the one out west, it has its own charm and beauty. To get to the Falls/Canyon/Gorge you just have to take a short hike along the Sturgeon river at a road side park in the UP. It truly doesn't look like your typical Michigan scenery. Michigan's Canyon

Tucked off a little trail at a roadside park is a mini version of the Grand Canyon. Shear walls of rock guide the Sturgeon River through the area. It is truly a sight to see.

Colorfull Hills

Beautiful fall colors along 510 near Big Bay, Michigan. The road is so new it is not on google maps yet. This road leads to the Eagle Mine.

Sight To See

Little Sable Point Lighthouse in Mears, Michigan is a sight to see. The drive to the lighthouse makes you question if you are going the right way as you drive through a coastal neighborhood. Once through the neighborhood the top of the lighthouse peaks out, letting you know you made it. "Sight To See" Little Sable Point Lighthouse, Mears, Michigan

Tucked Away

Chapel Falls in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Munising Michigan. This waterfall is a great waterfall to visit because there are so many different angles that you can see the waterfall from. When coming from the trailhead you come to the right side of the waterfall, then you walk over a bridge right over the waterfall and then if you walk a little bit more you get to this view. Over the years the trees have grown a bit covering some of the falls but during the fall it is beautiful.

High Flow

Water flowing very fast and very high at "Unnamed Morgan Falls" near Marquette, Michigan. It was still raining when this picture was taken. Major puddles stopped us from parking at the trailhead, however it was a fun walk in.

Beach Bliss

Michigan has so many fantastic beaches but one of my favorites is Chapel beach in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This beach has great sand, stones perfect for skipping, cliff edges, a beach waterfall that you can walk through and just when you think that's enough it has a very cool rock formation that has a beautiful tree on it whos roots traverse air to get to the shore to survive. It is a pretty special place. Oh and you can only get there via boat or a long hike.

Chapel Lake

My family and I hiked the Chapel Loop trail in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (Michigan) last fall and loved it! Not only was the Lake Superior part of the hike beautiful but the hike back to the parking lot overlooking Chapel Lake was great and something I wasn't expecting.

Local Views

I am always looking for local roads and hikes to find great fall color each fall. I was able to find this beautiful road in my local area and couldn't be more happy to find this in my neighborhood.

Magical Mountains

Iceland gives you hours and hours of sunsets/sunrises during the midnight sun (middle of the summer). This allowed me to really get creative with my photography and grow as a photographer.
